35 | SME Business Elite Supplement 2020 52 | Q1 2021 Sep20088 A New Generation Of Retail Experience A LITTLE FIND is an award-winning retailer defining a new generation of innovative online departments stores, driven by changing customer behaviour, curation and conscious commerce. We invite customers to discover the most innovative, aesthetic and conscious brands on one single retail platform. We chat to the founder about the rationale behind this company and its over-riding ethos. Founded by Caroline Jacobs-Graf, A LITTLE FIND grew from her knack of finding the most covetable, beautifully-designed products from brands that are conscious of their impact on the planet. It was from being asked “just where did you find that” many times that that idea for A LITTLE FIND was born. “It’s important that the brands I choose are pushing the boundaries of design, sustainability and innovation” Caroline begins. “After all, living a sustainable lifestyle should not be boring. Quite the contrary it is fun, exciting, educational and nowadays affordable.” Since its initial inception, the young company has grown into a small team, who all share the vision and goals of building the digital retail experience of the future. “One that is kinder to the planet and is helping to make the switch to using conscious brands easy and fun. The website combines a blend of commerce, community and content - catering to the changing customers’ buying habits and demands.” So what is it that makes A LITTLE FIND different to other eco-conscious retail sites out there? Caroline has the answer. “We are different to others in that we are driven by innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship and the deep-rooted desire to look after nature and wanting to play a responsible part in our community. Therefore, we support and champion founder-led companies and not established, multinational companies. We are a proud member of 1% for the Planet, and member of Social Enterprise UK. “Creativity is an inherit part of what we do and so we partner with artists and innovators on special creative projects. The first collaboration with a London based wallpaper artist was a big success and well received by our customers. We developed a bespoke tissue paper based on one of the artists prints and used this to pack all orders during spring and summer. A simple thing like the lovely print can really make a difference, especially in a challenging year like we are experiencing. The collaboration was also a way to highlight and communicate that all our orders are shipped plastic- free. “Customers are at the centre of what we do and customer service is not just a word for us but lived at A LITTLE FIND. The feedback and reviews we receive clearly show that our customers appreciate the time and care we take to answer queries. Issues are resolved swiftly and efficiently. Building a dialogue with our growing community via our newsletters and our THE FIND MAGAZINE is an important element of what we do and we love to showcase the stories or our brands. I admire founders who take the plunge to follow their dreams and launch a brand.” The team at A LITTLE FIND is key to its overall success and, as one of the main stakeholders, it shares and supports the founder’s vision to help the company grow. “The team if absolutely crucial and part of the success. It needs an entrepreneur and visionary person to lead but without a good team no business can succeed.” It goes without saying that 2020 has been a challenging year in many ways. Luckily A LITTLE FIND managed well and has grown stronger as a company and team over the last few months. “Overall, we are a young, small company and have a very agile structure which allows us to adapt very quickly, particularly in the challenging times we have seen this year. “We have many plans for the coming year but are flexible and will see how the next months are developing. Ideally, we will have a pop-up store in 2021 as it would be wonderful for our customers to experience A LITTLE FIND in this environment. Finally, we will also be launching more own branded products and are working on a new form for our THE FIND magazine.” Contact: Caroline Jacobs Company: A LITTLE FIND Web Address: www.alittlefind.com
